Insomnia Treatments Treat The Cause Not the Actual Insomnia Disorder

Insomnia is not like other ailments that have a defined cure, as a person has to treat the cause of the disorder as opposed to treating the disorder itself. There are many factors involved in a person’s ability to fall asleep and insomnia treatments involve focusing on those causes and not the lack of sleep ability itself.

The causes of insomnia have been identified as everything from physical, mental and medical and determining the cause helps identify insomnia treatments that may be beneficial to the person who cannot sleep. Whether suffering from transient or acute insomnia, those with the sleep disorder are in need of proper insomnia treatments.

Transient insomnia, defined as the inability to sleep for a day or so, is typically caused by stress or anxiety as well as possible physical pain. For these people insomnia treatments include eliminating stress and dulling the pain that is keeping their mind focused on something other than falling asleep. In some folks, a system of preparing for bed is needed to clear their minds before attempting sleep. Getting ready for bed is usually more involved than pulling down the sheets and without proper preparation, sleep will be denied.

Medical Intervention May Provide Temporary Relief

Those suffering a temporary inability to fall asleep, and more importantly stay asleep for a reasonable amount of time, sleep aids may be helpful. However, using sleeping pills as insomnia treatments is not recommended by medical provider as the person can develop a dependency on them and many have undesirable side effects. Whenever a sleep problem exists, experts agree it is better to treat the symptom rather than the inability to sleep.

In extremely rare cases, there may be a hereditary problem called fatal familial insomnia in which the person lacks a specific gene that regulates sleep patterns. This ailment, although extremely rare, is almost always fatal with two or three years from the onset and insomnia treatments do not work.

Other forms of sleeplessness can be dealt with on a case-by-case basis and insomnia treatments may include things as simple as practicing good sleep hygiene. Do not take naps during the day, or stay away from stimulants such as caffeine, chocolate and alcohol within an hour of bedtime. Behavior modification may be necessary to reduce episodes of insomnia such as heavy physical activity at least an hour before bedtime and the importance of quiet time prior to going to bed.

Motivational Speaker Urges Transforming Insomnia Into Inspiration

Curing Insomnia Without Drugs. How To Cure Your Insomnia Naturally.

There are various kinds of insomnia and sleeping disorders.

Some folks simply can’t get to sleep at the appointed time. They toss and turn, and some find their minds becoming closed-loop machines, working and reworking the same fantasies and fears.

Others, like me, get off to sleep quite easily, but we awaken after a few hours, feeling energized; all undressed with nowhere to go.

What can you do when it’s two or three in the morning and you know for a fact that you’re definitely not going to drift off to sleep if you stay in bed?

Tip! For Exogenous Insomnia, make the room as quiet as possible. If your partner snores, you can move to another room.

I’ve found this is a golden time, if used constructively. In fact, I do some of my best thinking and most creative work in the wee hours.

But this takes some practice and I have found reprogramming by beliefs to be helpful.

For example, if you believe that awakening in the middle of the night is ABNORMAL, and you label it as such, what will happen?

Tip! For Endogenous Insomnia, you should eliminate the discomfort to the best of your ability.

You’ll probably wake up and immediately ask yourself: Why am I so ABNORMAL?

Undoubtedly, this will lead to some disturbing thoughts, and you’ll compound the misery of being awake at that hour.

On the other hand, if you WELCOME being awake, and you label it an OPPORTUNITY, then you’re definitely more likely to get something positive from it.

Sometimes, I’ll ask this question: What is my unconscious telling me to work on?

Once, when I was doing an extensive consulting assignment in Texas, I awoke in the middle of the night, anxious about the seminar I was delivering the next day.

After tuning into my concerns, and accepting that I wasn’t going to fall back to sleep, I redesigned the programs, and the results paid off immediately.

Those five hours of work were, literally, career changing.

Of course, I do a considerable amount of writing when I’m prematurely awakened.

Tip! Go to sleep and wake up at the same time everyday, even during the weekends. Some insomniacs try to sleep at any time of the day to catch up on some sleep they lost at night.

As a matter of fact, this piece is being composed at exactly 3:20 in the morning.

Hope it helps you as much as it’s helping me!

Why Do People Take Dietary Supplements And Who Is The Audience For Supplement Marketers?

The use of condition-specific supplements more than doubled between 1999 and 2005. There are two possible reasons for this increase:
0Consumers could be switching from single-nutrient supplements to treat and prevent health issues to combination and condition-specific formulas
0Americans are more confident of their ability to take care of their own health
Consumers may be switching from single-nutrient supplements to condition-specific formulas because it is an easier and less costly route toward one-stop shopping for health.
Dietary supplements are a way for Americans to self manage and treat specific health issues.
The prevention of specific health issues and medical conditions has become the number one reason why 57% of consumers took a vitamin-mineral supplement for the first time over the past 5 years.
I personally had a rise in triglycerides for the first time. Instead of a prescription drug my doctor elected to try a dietary supplement, Niacin, in the hopes of reducing the triglyceride level. At my last exam, apparently this supplement worked for me. My triglyceride level was lowered after 6 months of taking the dietary supplement of Niacin. It has been more cost effective than a prescription drug.
Young people are specifically interested in improving physical performance as a motivator for starting vitamin and […]
